Epidemic Sound macOS App: Setup and a Final Cut Pro Workflow

Epidemic Sound has a macOS app that works well next to a video editor. This is how I set it up and how I use it while cutting in Final Cut Pro.

Setup

Install the app and log in. Then open the settings and set the download location. I download as WAV, and I point it at my own media library folder so everything lives with my other project files.

Using it as a floating window

I keep the app as a floating window on top of Final Cut Pro. Pressing Cmd+H hides it, and Cmd+Tab brings it back when I need it. Once a track is downloaded, I drag and drop it straight into the timeline.

Downloads are remembered

The app remembers which files you already downloaded, so you do not end up with duplicates in your library. To get your sounds into Final Cut’s own browser, see Epidemic Sound in Final Cut Pro.
