Pelsop.de Website (2018-2021)
I started learning HTML back in 2018 on a platform called Codecademy. Once I had a grasp of the basics, I came up with the idea for my own website. It wasn’t meant to be anything complex — just a simple landing page that linked to my social media accounts (mainly Twitch), along with a few blog posts about Fortnite and some reviews of side hustles I had tried.
Looking back, I really believe it could’ve grown into something bigger if I had stuck with it. But at the time, the cost of a domain and hosting felt too high, and I wasn’t committed enough to consistently create high-quality content.
Grids & Layout
What I remember most — seven years later — is how much time I lost trying to get the layout right. It still haunts me to this day. Setting everything up in div containers was a struggle, especially when weird issues popped up — like the header randomly becoming part of the body. Still, it was a valuable learning experience.
Google Ads
I had big dreams of making money from the site, and of course, that meant getting approved for Google AdSense. That process turned out to be a challenge too, mainly because my site didn’t have much content.
I still remember working on it while on vacation in Thailand and finally getting that approval email. Sadly, I never made it to the $70 payout threshold — I think my account still has around $7 sitting in it. Maybe one day I’ll cash that out
Conclusion
All in all, I learned a lot from that project. It helped me sharpen my HTML skills and taught me what kind of content a website needs to be eligible for monetization.
In hindsight, the competition in the Fortnite niche was fierce, and I probably didn’t stand much of a chance with limited experience — but it would’ve been fun to see where things might’ve gone if I had stayed consistent.
Then again, it’s never too late. I’ve launched a new website now — one where I’m once again sharing my experiences and trying to build something meaningful over time.
I will add a download link for the whole page. You can browse through the folders and files, read the code and modify it if you like. I don’t have the original website from 2018 anymore. Just the updated version from 2021.
